San Miguel de Allende: For Work & Play in Mexico
I just returned home from the most amazing work and play trip to San Mguel de Allende, Mexico. It was my first time visiting a city in Mexico, as I usually stay at beach resorts, and I instantly fell in love with the historic city. Founded in the 16th century, San Miguel de Allende is home to Casa de Sierra Nevada, a Belmond Hotel and one of our Retreats by OMNoire partners.
I was so excited to experience the property and get a taste of what some of our future retreat leaders and attendees will experience. Casa de Sierra Nevada is home to a cluster of 6 mansions with 37 rooms and suites. The cobblestone streets are made for walking (but not in heels). Bring your appetite and an extra suitcase; in between bites of the most delicious and authentic Mexican food you’ve ever had, you’ll want to check out the charming shops filled with sundresses, hats, and home goods.
Here’s what I recommend in San Miguel del Allende:
Sign up for the horseback riding experience
Take a trip to the hot springs
Learn to make perfect guacamole at Sazon Cooking School.
Find your holiday gifts and souvenirs at the Crafts Market
Take a trip at sunrise or sunset in the Hot Air Balloon
I will definitely be back to explore and bring friends. It’d make a wonderful destination for a birthday, anniversary, girl’s trip or solo advent at the The Purpose Driven Entrepreneur Retreat this August (wink, wink).
Have you ever visited San Miguel de Allende or do you plan to? What is your favorite part?
